Abandoned to Flourish

Found in the desert
Parched and exposed
Every breath a struggle
Every open door closed

I climb to the top
Of the sun-baked rock
The view unrivaled
The way unblocked

You call me higher
"Climb up," you say
My heart on fire
My will falls away

Found on the mountain
Led by Your hand
Curled in Your lap
As I sit, I can stand

Missing in Action

Where was your heart
While you chased pleasure?
Who did the choosing
Which you thought so clever?
When will you see
Now leads to forever?

Your heart on ice
In the fridge of abuse
Not thinking twice
Of the treasure you lose
Playing with the wrapper
The gift left unused

Grace on Grace

How many times have we been here before?
How many tests have we failed?
Still You say "Come, let us reason togehter."
Still Your love ever prevails

Now again as we lift our eyes
Washed in Your life and Your light
We are sated and drenched in Your endless supply
Unrestrained by our self-induced plight

You are our origin, our destination
The impetus and goal of our faith
Always our engine and rudder within
Pouring love on love, grace on grace

Beloved

How shallow
How profound
Your choice
Burned or drowned

Your eyes
Full of stars
Chasing rabbits
Behind bars

Fragile heart
Tense mind
Broken spirit
Once kind

Think you've made it
Think you're free
Bound by chains
You cannot see

Drug or drink
Food or porn
These are not
Why you were born

Revelation
Wake up!
Rise again
Through His cup

Blurred Vision

The focus

Centred in loneliness
Unchosen role
Circumstantially inherited

No fault, no blame
To lay.
It happens
Understood
Though unaware of understanding

Learn to live
Focus to focus
Forgetting that the next
Is not so sharp

Suicidal Thoughts

Life could be simple
Why make it hard?
Why torture your mind?
And jump without looking
Into it

Life might be easy
You push too far
Move too fast
Leave yourself behind
In haste

Life should be gentle
You live ferocious
You bite but can’t chew
Then face the flood
A waste

None so Deaf

The line is busy
The phone is off
Headspace full
No sign of life

But if it wasn't me calling
If it wasn't my voice
Would you hear the wisdom
Would you turn a light on

I never saw
I never knew
I never asked
Where's the real you

Time has passed
People changed
But the heart of the matter
Is still the same

When will you hear me
When will you respond
How much pain
Till you sing His song
